What is Telkari?

Telkari  is 100% hand-embroidered using 925 sterling silver and dates back to BC. It is an art specific to Midyat, dating back to 3000 BC. The motifs in filigree reflect the interpretation of nature. Sometimes it is a branch, sometimes a flower, sometimes an old midyat stone pattern, sometimes a drop of water.

Especially in Midyat district, telkari art is highly developed. Midyat district of Mardin is where telkari was born and raised. Telkari masters have continued to work devotedly to keep this art alive and carry it into the future.

Telkari Models

For telkari models, the product to be made is first drawn in outline on a piece of paper. Based on the part that will form the main skeleton of the product, it is determined which parts of the micron thick wire will be used and which patterns will be filled inside, and the sketch is written on it and all kinds of jewelry are made from telkari.
